Magnetic chair for urinary incontinence, (Extracorporeal magnetic innervation: ExMI) The lower part of the abdominal cavity consists of a muscular layer, called the pelvic floor. This muscular layer helps keep the abdominal organs inside as well as provides urination, defecation and vaginal functions. This weakened and sagging muscular layer due to various causes results in urinary incontinence, gas or fecal incontinence and sexual dysfunctions in women.
The second type of urinary incontinence is overactive bladder (OAB) and is not directly related to anatomical weakness. Overactive bladder is a dysfunction of the bladder and its cause is not exactly known. It is commonly seen in diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. However, the majority of patients do not have these diseases. These two types of urinary incontinence may be present in the same patient. This condition is called mixed incontinence. The treatment of urinary incontinence in which these two types coexist is difficult. The treatment with magnetic waves, called extracorporeal magnetic innervation (ExMI), is one of the effective treatment methods that can be used in such cases.
Magnetic chair for urinary incontinence
In this treatment, the pelvic floor muscles and nerves are intermittently stimulated by magnetic waves. The muscles contract with each magnetic wave, and then relax. The patient feels that the pelvic muscles are contracted and relaxed during the treatment. This stimulation positively affects all muscles and nerves of the pelvis. The patient sits on a chair with clothes on for 20-30 minutes. If urinary incontinence coexists with gas and fecal incontinence, these complaints also improve after the treatment.
It is carried out 2 to 3 times a week, 20 times in total. In the literature, the success rates of magnetic chair that has no side effect are quite high (60-80%). Magnetic chair is also an effective method for nighttime incontinence.
