Myoma treatment, They are usually round and pink benign tumoral structures originating from the uterus, arising in the uterus or in the cervix, developing from the smooth muscles of the uterus.
The word “tumor” reminds negative conditions in the first place. Because the word “tumor” is usually associated with cancer among the people. However, when used as a medical term, tumor is a general term given to all benign and malignant masses in the body.
To give some information about myoma treatment, myomas are
- The most common benign tumor of the uterus.
- They can arise everywhere in the uterus.
- It is possible to find small-diameter or large-diameter, fewer or multiple, symptomatic or asymptomatic myomas in about 20-25 of every 100 women.
- It is most commonly seen in women in the age range of 35-45 years.
- The incidence decreases in adolescence and menopause. Most of the women diagnosed with myoma in their reproductive age havea rapid decline in their disease when they go through the menopause.
- They usually appear in the uterus, and rarely in the cervix.
- They can be seen in the form of multiple lumps, as well as in one-piece by expanding the whole uterus.
Myoma treatment, they are usually asymptomatic. They are often detected incidentally during gynecological examinations. However, in regard to this growth, they may manifest symptoms such as increase in menstrual bleeding, bleeding after sexual intercourse, bleeding between periods, frequent urination, abdominal growth or swelling, pain radiating to the coccyx during menstrual periods or sexual intercourse, anemia due to increase in bleeding.
Myoma treatment, myomas are classified according to their locations. Accordingly, 3 types of myoma are seen:
- Subserous myomas: They are seen in the outer layer of the uterus.
- Intramural myomas: They are seen in the middle layer of the uterus.
- Subcutaneous myomas: They are seen in the inner layer of the uterus.
It is not difficult to diagnose myomas. As a result of examination and ultrasound performed on a patient presenting with the abovementioned symptoms, a correct diagnosis is made by 99%.
Methods used in the treatment and diagnosis of myomas:
- Ultrasonography: With this painless examination method, internal genital organs are evaluated with the help of a probe over the abdomen or inserted into the vagina using the images created by sound waves.
- Hysteroscopy: This is based on entering inside of the uterus with a camera, called telescope, by passing through the vagina and cervix, and examining this area.
- Laparoscopy: The abdominal cavity is entered through a small incision is made on the abdomen using tubular cameras, called telescope, and the internal organs are examined.
- Hysterosalpingography: In this contrast-enhanced x-ray technique, the distribution of contrast material, which is given through a fine tube by vaginal route just into the inner part of the cervix, to the abdominal cavity from inside of the uterus by means of the tubes is visualized, and information about abnormalities in these organs is obtained.
Myoma treatment, In every woman, myomas vary in terms of number, size and growth rates. The treatment of myoma in women of reproductive age, if myoma is surgically removed, these women are likely to develop myoma again in their bodies until they go through menopause. Therefore, if myomas do not cause any discomfort or any other problems, it may be more appropriate to wait or treat the problems they cause (bleeding, menstrual irregularity etc.) with medication instead of surgically removing myomas, especially in women of reproductive age. However, it would always be better to act according to the doctor’s initiative.
The growth of myomas is related to female hormones (such as estrogen). Accordingly, it is possible to reach the following conclusions:
- Myomas with a small size may disappear or become smaller when a woman goes through menopause.
- Myomas with a large size may create longer-term problems. Myoma treatment-the studies conducted today cannot explain why myomas occur. Although it is more common in those with a sedentary lifestyle and obese women, the fact that it is less common in athletic women suggests the importance of muscle activity for protection.
